  • The eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was expected to be one of the first cities to fall to pro-Russian separatists. However, the city remains relatively peaceful, and some locals say it is because God has answered the prayers of those who gather each morning on the main square to pray for their city and for Ukraine.
  • Nearly a year ago, six senior adults from Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C., were killed and 12 others severely injured in a bus accident near Dandridge, Tenn. The accident also claimed the lives of two other people. Members of the church returned to the Dandridge area in July to say thank you and to minister locally.
  • Braxton Caner, 15-year-old son of Ergun and Jill Caner, committed suicide July 29, according to various reports on social media.

In their 25 years of service, the Kirkpatricks watched China change and the church boom. The Christian workers say the number of believers in the country is "staggering."
